Baptist Foundation News

COVID-19

Perhaps one of the Foundation’s greatest achievements in the past year was the awarding of COVID-19 Employee Assistance to 3,027 Baptist team members across the system who were experiencing financial hardships due to the pandemic. We were able to provide a total of $1,385,955 to our colleagues in need from contributions made by leadership, Baptist employees and donors like you who wanted to make a difference at this critical time.

Since March 2020, Baptist has performed more than 400,000 COVID-19 tests, we have cared for more than 4,750 in our hospitals who were diagnosed with COVID-19, and we are the only hospital in the region to use extracorporeal membrane oxygenation equipment, or ECMO, to treat patients with significant lung damage from COVID-19. The ECMO equipment was purchased with fundraising dollars and has saved countless lives.

Center of Excellence in Addiction Medicine

We were able to establish a new Center of Excellence in Addiction Medicine that includes the area’s only fellowship-trained and board-certified addiction medicine specialists that are available to our patients who suffer from substance and alcohol use disorders.

Dorothy's Cottage – A Center for Good Grief Expansion

Dorothy's Cottage is a new building that expands the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief and provides expanded programming and activities to support children, teens and adults who have lost significant loved ones. Groundbreaking took place in late 2022, with construction completed in March 2023. Dorothy's Cottage was dedicated on April 4, 2023.

You helped make Dorothy's Cottage possible through your generosity. Your support makes possible all of the free grief services and family assistance programs provided by the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief. You can make an additional gift in support of Dorothy's Cottage and our ability to serve more families throughout the Mid-South by visiting our website at baptistgriefcenters.org.
